Taking Tea in the Kasbah

The final tally in the epic battle between the goats and geese is in and I’m here to tell you, the geese have won.

That’s right, after reading through the comments from last week’s question on whether you preferred to be trapped in the back of a truck with a bunch of cantankerous geese or sequestered in a stuck elevator with some smelly, yet friendly goats, nearly twice as many of you decided to hitch a ride with the geese.

You are much braver souls than ever imagined.

I knew what I would choose as soon as I typed out the question. Give me the smelly goats ANY day over geese, cantankerous or otherwise. I’ll simply bring some good nose plugs (as suggested by one clever commenter) and take a very long shower afterwards. Goats may be smelly creatures, but I would not fear for my life with them. Geese, on the other hand, are evil, feathery fiends from hell who would peck your head to a nub if given half a chance. And I don’t ever intend to give them that chance.

On to this week’s question…

Would you rather

be unable to see for one day

unable to use your phone for one month?

So, which will you give up, clever readers? A temporary loss of sight for one day? Or a temporary loss of cell phone usage for one month? Sit, sip, and spill (your thoughts, that is, not the tea). I always love to hear from you.

  1. Not being able to see for one day wouldn’t be so bad, although that blindfold doesn’t match anything in my wardrobe 😉

  2. I don’t think I’d survive a month without my phone… Oh, OK, I would. I’d probably feel quite liberated after a day or two and I’d had a chance to come out of the corner. Maybe I’d even be cured.
But I’m going to choose the other option. It would be quite interesting to be blind for a day. A fascinating experience. And also liberating in its own way, I’d imagine.

    • I’d bet not having your vision for a day would make you more aware of sounds and smells and such. Also, you’d probably have to liberate yourself from your phone for a day, at least the texting and internet surfing stuff. Don’t know about a cure, though… 😉

  3. I spilled my tea when I read this one. I would hate to be blindfolded for even an hour, never mind a day.

Since I am not a phone person, I would choose the No Phone option. I *do* have a little cell phone, not a “smart” phone, rather a “stupid” phone. All it does is make & receive phone calls. And I usually have it turned off anyway.

  4. I would also choose going without my phone for a month. You did not say we couldn’t access email, Twitter, Facebook etc. from a laptop or other computer! The smartphone makes all that easier, but I can live without the ability to check everything all the time for a month. 😉

  5. (Lol, Mike!)
Easy peezy– take away the cell phone but I need my eyeballs wide open and fully functioning. Considering how it irritates the bejezus out of me when I occasionally find it necessary to don “visionary aids” (aka, glasses) I’m thinking that temporary blindness would definitely send me over the edge.

    • I hear ya on the visionary aids and the frustration around that. Having worn contacts since the age of 13, I would love to not need them anymore.

    • No judgement. Not allowed in the kasbah. It’s one of the rules, just after Don’t Bring Your Pet Chickens With You When You Come to Visit and No Snuggies Allowed in the Kasbah at Any Time For Any Reason Whatsoever. It’s all good.

  6. I’m choosing blind for a day for the chance to see what it’s like for my other senses to me heightened. Then I could let everyone know if that’s real or just a bunch of hoohaa 🙂
Lose my phone for a month…. I’m having palpitations at the thought.

    • It’s interesting how many of us (I’m including myself in this ‘us’ category) have become so tied to these little devices that wouldn’t have ranked so high on our must-have list even ten years ago. Yes, the thought of my phone being taken for a month gives me palpitations, too.
