Taking Tea in the Kasbah

In last week’s Would You Rather showdown, y’all had to choose between saving the library at Alexandria from its fiery demise or discover what really happened to the now lost city of Atlantis. Kasbah readers were evenly divided once again, with an equal number of votes for each choice. Book lovers and adventure seekers aligned themselves accordingly, though I think we all could agree that the burning of books is a nightmarish thing to even think about.

As for me, well, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to dive down to the watery grave of an advanced civilization that suddenly disappeared. One reader shared that there was a library of knowledge in Atlantis as well, so really, when you think about, I’d be doing the world a favor in the book department by discovering Atlantis and her secrets. Score one for libraries everywhere!

And now, on to this week’s question…

Would You Rather

go on your ultimate dream vacation for two weeks

– OR –

spend 24 hours with anyone in the world, but be unable to leave your house during that time?

oOo

What say you, adventurous readers? Will you choose to go on the most epic dream vacation? Or will you choose to be in the company of that one person you’ve always wanted to meet and spend time with for an entire day, but only from the cozy comfort of your home? Sip some tea and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from you.

  1. Dream vacation. I can’t think of anyone I want to meet more than I want to go to all manner of places! My current yearning is to walk around the Mont Blanc circuit. Or the Pilgrim’s Way from Italy to Spain. Or the Inca Trail. (Yep, there’s a theme…)

    • You’ve got some hiking on the brain these days, don’t you? I’ve heard the Pilgrim’s Way is such a gorgeous journey. But then again the Inca Trail is pretty spectacular as well. I’ve not heard of the Mont Blanc circuit. Where is it located?

      • Mont Blanc is in central Europe – right on the border of France and Italy… Oh I just googled to make sure I got that right and there’s a pen company called montblanc…

        • I figured it was in Europe (and I could have easily googled it myself – I was being a lazy, lazy person). The border of France and Italy would have some incredible scenery. When are we going? πŸ˜‰

  2. Anyone in the world, Tami? Lock me in with Shemar, please. Pull down the shades while you’re at it, and hang the Do Not Disturb sign on the knob.

    WOOT!

    • One Do Not Disturb sign coming right up! Good thinking. Wouldn’t want anyone interrupting your game of Scrabble just when it was getting good. πŸ˜‰

  3. Easy. Vacation. Dear Lord do I need a vacation, bad enough that there’s not a human being in recorded history who would interest me more than two weeks just about anyplace outside of Seattle. Well, anyplace that had a good bookstore and cocktails with the little umbrellas…

    • I am so with you on needing a vacation. I tried to go on one, but it didn’t take. I think we need to get that 3P Weekend (Portland, Powell’s, and a Pint) scheduled. Let’s toss some dates around via email if you’re still up for it.

    • So what I’m hearing is you need vacation. Did I get that right? Just checking. Sometimes I miss the more subtle cues.

No brainer for me….VACATION! I’m already packing. Anyone want to join me?

    • Count me in! Where are we off to? London? Tanzania? Guatamala? Thailand? Any of those would be fabulous.

        • Addendum to previous comment: AUSTRALIA (specifically, where Ellen lives so she can take me to all of her favo(u)rite cafes where we’d talk about writing over vanilla slices, yummy coffee, and later, large glasses of wine)

  5. Two weeks all-expenses-paid dream vacation anywhere in the world? I’m gone. The mystery guest can take care of my cats while I’m gone.

Of course, I don’t a classy British actor friend either. πŸ˜‰

  6. Since I already get to spend time with the person I most want to spend time with, then I’ll take the dream vacation. (He does not want to go to this place.)
I want to do the Antarctica cruise through the Falklands and South Georgia and see all the penguins. Even better, I’d love to have the trip where you get to dive (in a dry suit) and see all the penguins underwater.
hmmm, didn’t know I was going to say that…

    • A cruise in Antarctica sounds amazing. And cold. But mostly amazing. Seeing the penguins underwater would be so awesome. I love that a new idea popped into your head as you were typing your comment. The kasbah works in mysterious ways…

  7. Vacation! Just think of all the interesting people I could meet. A few hours with a whole bunch of different people with different backgrounds…oh the things I could learn from them.

    • Meeting interesting people, seeing fascinating places, and eating delicious food – ah, the joys of traveling. So much to see, learn, and do, isn’t there?

OH, this one is so easy. It’s the vacation. I tried to think of a person I’d want to spend 24 hours with that I don’t already spend time know and love. Of course, there are lots of people I admire, but a 24 hour imprisonment with the mystery person might not be all it’s cracked up to be. I might want to leave after one hour due to an obnoxious personality that is hidden underneath a celebrity exterior.

    • I’m glad I tossed you an easy one this week. Being trapped in a house for 24 hours with someone who thought you admired but who turned out to be an obnoxious twit would be doubly devastating. Fangirl bubble would be burst AND you couldn’t leave the house. Sheesh. Send me on a vacation already. πŸ˜‰

  9. Vacation! No doubt. I have been feeling adventurous lately and could really skip town to anywhere exciting πŸ™‚
