Another Wednesday means another Would You Rather…? question of the week. Before we get to that, I’ll share last week’s results.
Every single one of you who commented chose to have a song written about yourself rather than a book. Many cited their preference for a song by saying a book would be far too revealing. Initially, I agreed but then I thought “what if it is a fiction book that portrays me as a bada$$ female version of Jason Bourne? How could I turn THAT down?”

*dons goofy grin usually reserved for watching a certain classy British actor*
*daydreams about a certain classy British actor*
*reminds self that this isn’t the time to be daydreaming about a certain classy British actor*
*shifts daydream to Matt Damon as Jason Bourne*

*dashes off to watch Bourne Trilogy for eighty billionth time*
*several hours and a nap later, returns to blog post*
To recap, if I can’t be written as the most rockin’ version of myself, then I’ll go with the wisdom in the kasbah and choose to have a song written about me. With any luck, the song writer will spell my name correctly. I know, I dream big.

I agree – Windgardium Leviosa doesn’t seem all that useful. Accio, on the other hand, would be used all the time.

Well since Ellen’s got the wand thing covered, I’m going to choose superhero power, just so you don’t end up with another week of consistency. And for my superhero, I’d like to be Batman (Batwoman?) because he has the best toys and the thread of crazy appeals to me.

The Super Hero Powers I want are those of Sue Storm Richards in the Fantastic Four. She is the Invisible Woman. She can do 3 things with that: be invisible. make things invisible. and create an (of course) invisible force field. She’s basically got everything. But the best part, as any writer knows, is the ability to be Invisible. To be the “fly on the wall” and listen . . .
Imagine the dialogue you could come up with!

Yes, losing the wand (or worse, having it damaged like Ron’s) would indeed be tragic. The power of being/creating invisibility is incredibly tempting. Her powers are even better than having a magic wand AND the invisibility cloak. I think you’re on to something, Suzanne. 🙂

Decades ago there was a movie series about swordsman that remained youthful forever and could only be killed by another swordsman with similar powers. I only watched a few minutes of any of the movies while on transatlantic flights but i liked the concept. I enjoy sword study so this would be a good fit for me. I already have the swords and a little practice I would just need the “youth” part.

I’m liking that concept as well, Jay. I wonder how many swordsman with those powers are out there? What would my chances be, say, of running into one of them at the grocery store or at the gym? I guess if I always had my sword with me I wouldn’t have to worry.

Superman has a great array of super powers. I wouldn’t mind being able to fly wherever I wanted whenever I wanted. It would make getting to Europe and Africa a bit easier without having the hassle of airport security lines. 🙂

But a super power? Only one? What if that power is only helpful in certain predicaments? The ability to walk through walls is great, but it wouldn’t do me much good trying to escape a hungry lioness on the wall-less savannah now, would it? But with a wand, I could whip four walls around me, or a cage around the lioness, or beam me to a Parisian cafe where I could sip latte with Jason Bourne, sans wildcat.
Question, Tami. How did I end up in the savannah?
Am I putting too much thought into this?

You can never put too much thought into these things, Sherry. Super powers vs. magic wands is not a delicate matter to consider as you so adeptly pointed out with your lioness in the savannah scenario. One can’t be too careful.
You ended up in the savannah the same way I ended up eating gelato with Jason Bourne on the beach in the Italian Riviera. (He got your text to meet him at the cafe, by the way. He’s washing off the sand and then he’ll be on his way.) Some might call it an over active imagination. I call it planning ahead.

Having super powers would be a lot of pressure – good point. The wand can be used for everyday things (as Ellen pointed out with Accio!) as well as fighting off evil. Diagon Alley would be so much fun to explore, wouldn’t it? The wand would be so handy for finding it.
